One of the simplest things you can do to improve your business is to keep a log of frequently asked questions (FAQ).
All you need to do is keep a little notebook with you or a notes file on your phone and write down every question you get asked by customers.
Why should you bother doing this?
- You’ll find after a while you get asked the same few questions quite often. Once you know this you can make sure you answer these questions in your quotes and on your website. Doing this saves you time, as you don’t have to keep answering the same thing over and over. Plus, it will assure your potential customer that you are experienced and know what you’re doing.
- It makes great social media content – Every time you get a question from a customer you can create a social media post from it. Say the question is ‘What can I do about the mould on my bathroom ceiling?’ or, ‘is it cheaper if I buy the materials?’ or, ‘do you offer a guarantee?’. Answer these questions with photos, videos and blogs and you’ll never run out of content ideas.
- It can help you get to the top of Google – For every customer who asks you a question there are likely thousands of others who have typed it into Google. One of the key factors for being the first result on Google is how relevant you are. As an example, if a potential customer types in to Google ‘How much should I be paying for a decorator?’ and you have a blog post on your website called ‘How much should you expect to pay for decorating work?’ you’re going to rank very highly.
Weave the answers to your FAQs into your website wherever you can, and you’ll soon find you’re being found on Google far more often.
This all might sound like more admin work, but in the long run it’s going to save you time. As you won’t have to keep repeating the same old answers, to the same old questions.
