Would you pay for the billboard in the picture?
Of course you wouldn’t. It’s ridiculous.
However, the front page of most business websites looks exactly like this!
Welcome to….(insert name of decorating business)
Doing this is a waste of prime real estate.
The home page of your website, and particularly the very top section (before you start scrolling down) is the billboard for your company.
Don’t waste this space.
Use it to tell the visitor you have the solution they are looking for.
So, instead of ‘Welcome to HGA Decorating’
Try something like: ‘Dave’s decorators – High end painting and decorating services for Oxford homeowners’ or ‘Different strokes Ltd – Commercial painters and decorators specialising in student accommodation nationwide’
Try and explain in one sentence, what you do, who you do it for, and where you do it.
Now make sure that’s the first thing on your website.
Think of it like this…Would you pay for it to be on a billboard? When the answer is yes, you know it’s good enough for the home page of your website.
