Is it worth having a Facebook page?

A very common question I get from decorators is:

‘Should I bother with a Facebook page?’

The usual reason for asking is because most decorators get sod all business through Facebook.

The only enquiries they do get are from Karen who wants quote to redecorate the whole house next week for £200.

So, should you have one?

The short answer is yes.

I mean, to start, it’s free, and there are nearly 3 billion Facebook users.

That means there must be some of your target customers on there.

Also, if you ever want to run Facebook ads, you’ll need to have a Facebook page for your business.

You might not want to do this now, but you might need to in future.

However, the most important thing to remember is this…

Effective marketing is never just one thing.

It’s lots of things coming together that leads to a potential customer getting in touch.

When someone wants to hire a decorator, they don’t just look at Facebook pages and get in touch with someone.

They ask friends for recommendations, they search on Google and look at websites, they take note of sign written vans driving around town, they check out companies on social media and many other things.

So, although you might think all of your work comes from word of mouth and not your Facebook page, more often than not, things like your Facebook page will have played a part in the final decision to contact you.

Oh…and when they want to show off their newly decorated room…you’ll want them to tag your page, so all their mates get in touch!

Overall, I’d highly recommend you have a Facebook page, as every little thing you do, adds up to better and better results.
