If you want to take some stress out of your life, then planning your social media posts is a great thing to do.

All too often we tell ourselves we need to post a certain number of times every week to keep things ticking over.

The problem with this, is when you don’t know what to post next you end up putting any old sh*t up just for the sake of it.

A less stressful way to manage your social media is to plan out a campaign.

Let me explain how this works.

First, set yourself a goal for the campaign.

An example of a goal could be to get some bookings for exterior work.

Next, set your time frame.

Ask yourself: When does the campaign need to go live? And how long should the campaign last?

Well, if you wanted the exterior work to begin in Spring, say March/April, and you’re normally booked up 3 months in advance, then I’d suggest running a campaign in December / January.

People are preoccupied with Christmas in December, so in this example, I would go with a January campaign.

Personally I find 4-6 weeks is a great time frame for most campaigns. But you can shorten it if you get a great response.

Now decide how many social media posts you want to put out per week for this campaign.

Let’s say you settle on 3 per week.

That means you need to prepare 12 posts for the 1-month campaign.

Now get to work on putting those pieces together ready for the campaign. You’ll need to gather up all those images/photos of exterior jobs from the past and pick out the best ones, and you’ll need to write the captions.

You’ll also want to decide on whether or not to use paid ads for the campaign.

If you plan, you can leave yourself a couple of months to prepare these posts, so it’ll greatly reduce that stress!

Working like this not only eliminates the stress you would have been under when trying to put posts together at the last minute, but there are also several other benefits:

  • Your posts will be of a much higher quality because they will be well thought out
  • There will be a consistency to your posts, because you’re creating them all together (this makes your brand look more professional)
  • You have a clear goal for your social media, so you are more likely to get the results you want

Bonus tip:

Your campaign doesn’t just have to be social media posts with before and after photos of your work.

Mix it up and stand out from the competition by adding in different types of content such as videos, blogs and case studies.
