If you want more enquiries there are a few essentials you NEED to have on your website.
Every good decorator website should clearly show: What you do, where you do it, who you do it for, proof that you’re good at it, and a photo of you.
Simple, right?
Yet so many websites don’t tick all these boxes.
Let’s quickly break down each of these points and what you need to do.
What you do
Seems obvious, but you won’t believe the number of websites that don’t clearly state what they do.
Make sure at the top of your website home page, it says exactly what you do.
Are you a general painter and decorator? Are you a wallpaper hanger? Are you a sprayer? If so, what do you spray?
To back up the message, it’s a great idea to have a photo of you doing it alongside the text.
Where you do it
What areas do you cover? Name the villages / towns / cities.
Remember, people will be searching via Google.
So, if you’re a ‘Painter and decorator in Mornington Crescent’, then you want to have that written on your website.
Then when a customer types ‘painter and decorator in Mornington crescent’ into Google, you’ll pop up!
Who you do it for
The best, and most subtle way to show who you work for is with photos.
For example, if you want to be known for high end interior decorating, make sure all the photos on your website are of big and expensive homes.
If you’re a kitchen sprayer, ensure all the images are of beautiful kitchens.
Only show the type of work you want to do.
Don’t have pictures of a downstairs loo you wallpapered for Mrs Miggins 5 years ago if you now want to focus on commercial work.
Proof you’re good at it
Just like when you’re shopping on Amazon, people love to see reviews! So, make sure you have some on your website.
If you don’t have any to hand, then reach out to some old customers and see if they wouldn’t mind writing a few lines about you to put on your website.
Having a link to your Google reviews great because potential customers will trust that more.
A photo of you
People love to know who they are dealing with. Simply adding a photo of yourself to your website often has a positive impact on trustworthiness and makes potential customers more likely to contact you.
Bonus tip:
Have a 30-60 second promo video on your home page that covers all the above points.
People are lazy. They are far more likely to watch a video than read a load of text.
Shoot and edit the video yourself using your phone if you are comfortable with that, or, if you have the budget, hire someone to do it professionally.
