When you can’t change the direction of the wind – adjust your sail

I saw this quote yesterday and thought that there has rarely been a time where so many people could benefit from these words.

COVID-19 has nearly everybody out of work and it would be quite reasonable for the majority of people to feel completely helpless.

Well, I’m writing this as much for me as anyone else. We can’t change COVID-19, but we can ‘adjust our sails’

I’ll be spending the coming weeks trying to help as many people as I can in as many ways as I can think of.

What’s this got to do with sales and marketing?

In a word. Brand.

People have long memories. When we come out of the other side of this, everyone will remember the people and the companies that did everything they could to help, and they’ll remember all those who did not.

I intend to be someone who did his best during this crisis, and I think this sense of purpose is what will keep me motivated.

Keep well everyone. Feel free to get in touch if you need anything.

  1. In these times and thinking ahead for Decs with sprayers, there would be no harm to offer your services to disinfect driveways, exterior walls etc or even go in armed to do interiors for a small token payment or whatever to cover materials using your sprayer. You’ve got the mask, goggles, machine, all you need is a disposable suit for a few quid. 5 litres of disinfectant goes a long way…..
Another angle on this would be to offer it for free and leave your details…. I bet for doing you part now, you’ll plant that seed, they’ll call on you or recommend you for your decorating services on a later date hopefully.
You can do it locally or go to unchartered territories and hit the more affluent areas to get your foot in …..just thinking for the future when it all goes back to normality.
    ‘Adjusting your sail’ 👍
